When wearing contact lenses you need to be careful not to get dry eyes, and the ophthalmologist Walter Rodrigues reminds us of some steps for healthy use of this type of lenses:
The first step is to see an ophthalmologist to look at your eye conditions - which is extremely important because not everyone can wear contact lenses. It is very much dependent on your ocular surface.
The second step is to wear contact lenses for as little time as possible, not exceeding 8 hours a day, thus allowing adequate ocular lubrication and natural oxygenation of the ocular structures.
If you work with computer systems, you should take breaks frequently. And what happens is that, in those who work with these computer systems, there is a decrease in blinking - automatically the eye becomes much drier and with contact lens wearers, this then gets much worse because, in itself, there is already a decrease, because the eyelid, as it passes over the contact lens, the tear path is reduced in relation to lubrication.
The third step: we can use suitable ocular lubricants, lubricants without preservatives. A final advice: contact lenses wearers should consult their ophthalmologist at least once a year, so that he can monitor the progress of their vision and correct eye problems in good time.
Tomorrow we continue to take questions about contact lenses.
