Regulations for the Granting of Scientific Sponsorship by the Portuguese Society of Ophthalmology to Scientific Activities
- The SPO sponsors events of recognized interest to the continuing education of ophthalmologists. These will be considered
- National or international scientific meetings (congresses, symposia, conferences) in the field of Ophthalmology
- Courses, continuing education, or any other scientific activity of obvious interest to the Portuguese ophthalmology community
- National or international scientific meetings in areas of medicine that are of interest to Ophthalmology and where Ophthalmology topics are covered in the program
- Scientific sponsorship will be granted upon fulfillment of the conditions listed below and after approval by the SPO Board of Directors:
- 2.1. Organization promoted by:
- Public or private ophthalmology medical institutions;
- Public or private educational or research institutions
- Other suitable scientific societies or health foundations
- Events organized by non-medical institutions and companies with the aim of promoting and informing the population about health may be considered, subject to analysis and decision by the SPO Board of Directors.
- 2.2 Exclusion factors:
- Events exclusively linked to or organized by a pharmaceutical or equipment company
- Events aimed at promoting a drug or equipment
- The event must not coincide with SPO meetings, general assemblies or congresses.
- Failure to comply with the requirements of these regulations, which must be communicated in writing to the event's organizing committee.
- Order form
- The request must be formalized by filling in the form available for this purpose at least 4 weeks before the start date of the event
- Necessary information: name of the event, date and place, workload, promoter, organizing committee, scientific committee, objectives of the event, recipients, detailed scientific program, number of attendees at previous sessions, registration fee.
- A formal invitation to attend the Inaugural Session should be sent to the SPO President by email: socportoftalmologia@gmail.com
- Communication of the award of scientific sponsorship
- The SPO's decision will be communicated in writing to the Organizing Committee no later than 15 days after the date of receipt of the request.
- Obligations/Benefits of the Organizing Committee of the event by granting scientific sponsorship:
- Insertion of the SPO logo, with the mention of scientific sponsor in all communications about the event
- Invitation to the President of SPO to attend the Inaugural Session of the event
- The evaluation awarded is valid only for the event in question and has no effect on subsequent events, even if they are similar in content.
- Any misuse of the SPO's name or logo will be subject to legal action.
- Other
- The granting of scientific sponsorship by the SPO does not imply its disclosure on the SPO's communication platforms, a process which has its own form and regulations on the website.
- This regulation also applies to sponsorship granted by the SPO's Specialized Sections, with the agreement of the SPO's Board of Directors.
- Any cases not covered by the rules must be assessed individually by the SPO Board.
