Ike K. Ahmed, MD has become known worldwide for his skills and innovative work in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of highly complex eye diseases, including glaucoma and surgical complications. Patients are referred to him locally, nationally and internationally, and he has been invited to perform surgeries on 4 continents. In 2010, Dr. Ahmed was selected as one of Canada's "Top 40 Under 40" - a prestigious national award that recognizes significant work at a young age.

Ike Ahmed has received research grants and designed innovative diamond scalpels for glaucoma surgery, microsurgical instruments and devices, implants and techniques for the management of dislocated cataracts, iris reconstruction and glaucoma implant devices. As a result of his innovative experience, Dr. Ahmed has been asked to advise a variety of companies and manufacturers, especially with regard to the development of new devices and technologies. He sits on the editorial boards of Ophthalmology, Clinical and Surgical Ophthalmology, Ocular Surgery News, Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today and Glaucoma Today, and is a reviewer for several journals.

He is currently a Professor at the University of Utah and directs the Alan S. Crandall Center for Glaucoma Innovation at the John A. Moran Eye Center, as well as being an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. He is the Director of the Fellowship in Glaucoma and Advanced Anterior Surgery (GAASS) at the University of Toronto and Director of Research at the Kensington Eye Institute, University of Toronto and Division Head of Ophthalmology at Trillium Health Partners in Mississauga, Ontario.
