Objective: To review the different stages of narrow-angle disease (suspected (PACS), primary angle closure (PAC) and primary narrow-angle glaucoma (POAG)) and in which circumstances iridotomy and/or phacoemulsification should be used, based on the most recent studies, EGS guidelines and the very recent consensus of the World Glaucoma Association (World Glaucoma Congress, July, Hawaii).

Benjamin Xu - Professor at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California, Coordinator of the Glaucoma Service at the USC Roski Eye Institute.
Co-author of the ZAP study (China) on the circumstances in which iridotomy is performed in PACS and main editor of the "Angle Closure Consensus" of the World Glaucoma Association, discussed at the World Glaucoma Congress - Hawaii July 2025 and which is in the final stages of publication.
Niklas Telinius - Consultant Ophthalmologist and Assistant Professor at Aarhus University Hospital (Denmark), involved in the "Danish Angle Closure Prevention Study", which evaluates, similarly to the ZAP study, in which patients with suspicious angles (PACS) iridotomy should be performed, but this time on Caucasians in a reality closer to that of Portugal.
